This Month:
The Well-Established Sompting Morris Wassail
A very ancient Nordic ritual of 'knocking-up' the spirits of the apple trees, to ensure a 'howling' good crop in the next season. We pass round the Wassail Cup and the traditional Wassail Apple Cake. We kick off with a flaming torch procession up and down Tarring High Street, before moving on to the Wassail celebration itself. This is a NOISY event with loud bangs and smoky fireworks.
